Queer Affirmative Approach
Led by Joseph, the group embraces a queer affirmative approach to mental health. This philosophy emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and affirming an individual’s sexual orientation and gender identity in every aspect of therapeutic care.

Combating Stigma
Joseph understands the profound impact of societal attitudes and prejudices on the mental health of LGBTQIA+ individuals. He is passionate about helping participants navigate these challenges while advocating for mental health professionals to actively combat stigma and bias.

Accessible LGBTQIA+ Mental Health Care
Recognizing the barriers many LGBTQIA+ individuals face in accessing quality mental health care, Joseph is dedicated to breaking these barriers, offering inclusive and accessible services for all.

Family Acceptance & Healthy Boundaries
Joseph supports the vital role of family acceptance in promoting better mental health and reducing substance use within the LGBTQIA+ community. He also recognizes the importance of establishing healthy boundaries, particularly when family dynamics present challenges.

Your Voice, Your Journey
Whether you’re seeking advice, connection, or simply a space to share your story, Beyond the Binary is here to support you. Together, we’ll navigate the complexities of life beyond the binary and celebrate the strength and diversity of our community.

Joseph Massey

Joseph Massey is not just a licensed counselor; he’s your ally on the journey to a better life. An unwavering advocate and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Joseph’s commitment to inclusivity is evident in his leadership at Amplified Mind’s support group. His passion for mental health counseling was ignited by personal tragedy — the loss of a family member to addiction.

Joseph brings his own experiences with therapy, fostering an empathetic approach that resonates deeply with his clients. As a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) and Certified Anger Resolution Therapist (CART), Joseph offers more than traditional therapy sessions. He specializes in substance misuse, sobriety maintenance, anger management, and life coaching, providing personalized solutions for each individual’s needs.
