Our History

White Foundation 45 Logo

The Beginning

Foundation 45 was established in 2014 as a suicide prevention group following the tragic loss of two local musicians, Adam Carter and Frankie Campagna, both members of the rising band Spector 45. In the wake of their deaths, surviving band member Anthony Delabano, counselor Zandra Ellis, and other community members came together to create the foundation. The initiative arose from the growing awareness of the rising number of deaths within the music and creative communities and the urgent need for accessible mental health support in these industries.

Spector 45
A Movement to Make a Difference

Originally a grassroots initiative, Foundation 45 was founded to support individuals navigating mental health challenges, with a focus on the creative community and other underserved groups facing significant barriers to accessing and affording care. In 2018, the organization entered a period of transformative growth under the leadership of Lauren O’Connor as President and Dr. Peter Thomas as Vice President with a new board of directors. This shift in leadership not only bolstered internal capacity but also created opportunities to expand programming and amplify awareness of us being a mental health resource.

What began as a single support group evolved into a robust offering of six mental health groups, each facilitated by Licensed Professional Counselors. These included tailored weekly groups for the LGBTQIA+ community, Art Therapy, Substance Use, and Women of Color, alongside general support sessions—all provided at no cost to participants.

This expansion was made possible by the collaborative efforts and support of the local community, as individuals, businesses, organizations, and creatives joined forces to advance the mission. As a result, Foundation 45 significantly broadened its reach, dismantling barriers to mental health care and cultivating a culture of inclusivity, openness, and compassion within the creative sector and beyond.

The Need for Support in the Creative Community

Many creatives face unique challenges such as lack of insurance, limited financial resources, and inadequate access to quality healthcare, which often prevent them from receiving the care they need. In addition to these barriers, they frequently encounter emotional and mental health struggles, such as feelings of rejection, burnout, and the pressure to constantly innovate. These challenges can take a toll on their well-being, making it even harder for them to seek help. The organization was created to address these disparities, offer a lifeline, and provide essential support to the community.

Impacting Thousands of Lives

Over the next decade, Foundation 45 provided support to more than 4,000 individuals, offering them the tools, resources, and connection needed for healing and support. Whether through emotional support, quality led groups, or professional guidance, Foundation 45 became a vital resource for those facing mental health challenges.

Amplified Minds: Continuing the Mission of Support and Healing

As we transition to Amplified Minds, we honor the incredible work done by Foundation 45 and the lasting impact it has had in the community. While our name has changed, our mission to mental health and creating a world where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported remains as strong as ever. We carry forward the spirit of Foundation 45, amplifying the message of support, healing, and understanding for all.
